This Salt Lake fireman lost this tooth to gum disease. Rather than let the bone resorb further a decision was made to extrat the tooth and place an implant. Dr Gleave removed the tooth and grafted the area, then waited several months and placed the dental implant. No incisions were made, just a small punch in the tissue with the dental laser and the implant was set into the bone, No bleeding, pain, or swelling. I small healing cap is placed over the implant to protect the implant and form the gum tissue. After a couple more months Dr Gleave will place a post and crown on the implant and the area will function just like the tooth was never removed. This is a far superior treatment to placing a bridge, which would require unnecessarily grinding down 2 adjacent teeth.

Here’s a case Dr Gleave removed all the old silver-mercury fillings and replaced with bonded composite tooth colored fillings. It’s not just more esthetic and natural looking but it’s so much stronger for the tooth and we get the toxic metals out of the body. It is also very common for decay to get around and under the metal filling as it corrodes with time. Dr Gleave found significant decay around all 4 of these teeth that was not evident on the x-ray. By waiting a few more years until the tooth became more sensitive or the enamel cracked it would have been 10X the cost to fix.

Here’s a case we recently completed. She is a school teacher from Draper. She had had several composite fillings placed on her front teeth and was tired of always redoing them from staining and chipping and wanted a beautiful smile. We placed 8 porcelain veneers on her top front teeth. Note the slight laser recontouring on the front one to even up the gums. We also uprighted the teeth for a straighter, fuller look. She wanted a more natural color to match her lower teeth.
