This Salt Lake City business woman was displeased with the appearance of her teeth and smile. She was not as confident in dealing with her business associates as she wanted to be. After a thorough examination we also found some problem issues related to her bite so we treated this case as a full moth rehabilitation case. She totally loves her new smile and her jaw and posterior teeth function in balance.

It was revealed on Good Things Utah last friday. Her name is Dannielle she is a Holladay Mom of 2 and teaches dance. Dr Gleave placed 10 porcelain veneers on the top teeth and placed composite fillings with some teeth whitening on the lower. Here’s a follow up letter received from Dannielle;

Hey doc!

It’s just Dannielle, your smile makeover girl! Hey, I haven’t got a lot of time to be able to talk to you since when I usually do see you I am a little out of it!

I just haven’t got to truly express my gratitude for you picking me to receive this amazing gift. You have no idea how much it means to me. Although I have been terrified of dental visits, you have made the appointments comfortable and really nice. You are great at what you do. This has been something I never ever could have done on my own. Every morning I used to brush my teeth and be disgusted and worry about what the heck I was going to do with them. Almost every night I was in so much pain. To not have to deal with ANY of that anymore has been an amazing feeling and a huge relief!!! My teeth look amazing so far and I am really looking forward to tomorrow (nervous of course, but excited!!!). I can’t wait to see them. I can never thank you enough for your generosity and caring and what you have done for me and my life. You are really great and someone I will NEVER forget. Thank you!

All of this literally couldn’t have come at a better time. With everything my son has went through, financially- I am just spent. With all of the medical bills I have just had to come to terms with that I will probably never (or not for a very long time) be able to own a home or a car…anything really. I separated from my husband back in October and moved out with my boys to Holladay. Although we love it, it has been such a tough time supporting them on my own…on top of all the other stuff. My business has suffered a lot with the economy, most people losing their jobs really don’t have extra money for dance lessons- so I have had to really look at my job and wonder if I can support my family with it. Bottom line- just been feeling down and like nothing was really working out. And then all of a sudden this happened. It was the first thing in a LONG time that has went my way and gave me something to get excited about. It just brightened things and it just has been a very special experience. And it was all because of you, so I just want you to know you have changed my life and made things better for me in many ways I can’t explain.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Your friend always! J

DANNIELLE

Rather than let the bone resorb further a decision was made to extrat the tooth and place an implant. Dr Gleave removed the tooth and grafted the area, then waited several months and placed the dental implant. No incisions were made, just a small punch in the tissue with the dental laser and the implant was set into the bone, No bleeding, pain, or swelling. I small healing cap is placed over the implant to protect the implant and form the gum tissue. After a couple more months Dr Gleave will place a post and crown on the implant and the area will function just like the tooth was never removed. This is a far superior treatment to placing a bridge, which would require unnecessarily grinding down 2 adjacent teeth.

It’s not just more esthetic and natural looking but it’s so much stronger for the tooth and we get the toxic metals out of the body. It is also very common for decay to get around and under the metal filling as it corrodes with time. Dr Gleave found significant decay around all 4 of these teeth that was not evident on the x-ray. By waiting a few more years until the tooth became more sensitive or the enamel cracked it would have been 10X the cost to fix.

We placed 8 porcelain veneers on her top front teeth. Note the slight laser recontouring on the front one to even up the gums. We also uprighted the teeth for a straighter, fuller look. She wanted a more natural color to match her lower teeth.

This was a 3 day program designed for the dentist and team members to become proficient at recognizing the SBD (sleep breathing disorder) patient in your practice, to become comfortable discussing the condition, and to effectively and predictably treat the disorder.
45% of Americans snore; 25% snore habitually; 7% have sleep apnea; and 90% of those remain undiagnosed. If you see 14 patients a day, one of them is among the walking dead, and more than likely, they don’t know they have a problem. Only 24% of physicians bother to screen for sleep disorders. 15 million Americans need our help.
Any dentist can make an anti-snoring appliance for a patient who complains. What you will learn takes you from that rudimentary stage to a level that far surpasses the knowledge of the MD not specializing in sleep disorders. Start protecting your patients from a collapsing airway and an unhealthy existence.

This was a wonderful course with a wealth of information. It was taught by Kent Smith DDS from Dallas Texas who is a very knowlegable and experienced dentist who has been treating SBD for many years. We did an overnight sleep study on all doctors and team members present at the course and evaluated all the data. The more severe cases of sleep apnea need to be treated with cpap and be referred to a sleep clinic but the more mild cases of apnea and snoring can be treated very effectivly with an oral appliance. The consequences of not treating the apnea are; increased depression, increase in hypertension, poor healing, impotence and loss of libedo, memory loss, increase in stress, more frequent urination, weight gain, and acid reflux. Not to mention what it does to your sleep partner.

For more information or an evaluation and sleep study please call us at (801) 262-0744

She was not happy with her smile for many years and came to us for advice. She had had some fillings placed on her front teeth and they were stained and she also didn’t like the color, lenght or shape. She also had a crossbite on the left side. We decided the best way to treat the case was to place porcelain veneers on the top 10 teeth and contour the lower left along with some custom whitening. We were able to completely fix the crossbite and she had a beautiful lifetime smile in 2 weeks. Also note the leveling of the gum heights with the laser.
